Can someone explain ...

Why I spend so much time on PentaxForum ?

I even made a pathetic New Year's Resolution to reduce my time here. It didn't take long to abandon that 'good' (?) intention. I wonder if there are other camera fora that are as addictive ? Adam, you've got a lot to answer for ...

Off to do so more (?) important jobs ...

Sorry Barry. I canʻt explain why you spend so much time on PF; but I can explain why I do.

a) Two cafes side by side. One is crowded with a wait line, the other is empty with no wait. Everyone goes to the busy place. PF is social media and busy enough that when you come up to the bar, someone will converse with you almost immediately. Other forums are like walking into a cave with a small clan of experts or thugs....or no one at all.

b) Google doesnʻt have all the answers to some very quirky questions. AI only goes so far.

c) Getting answers and giving answers is rewarded with dopamine.

d) Avoidance from picking up my camera and taking photos. Left brain 1, right brain 0.

Agree with all but that - speaking personally, of course - I'd much rather have somewhere to sit in peace and quiet with no wait that a (perhaps) marginally better coffee or whatever

[ if for the most part I find ]

good folks

friendly folks

knowledgeable folks

friendly staff

and heck, if the coffee is hot and not too terrible

meet me at the busy café

IMHO, YMMV

Perhaps you need to discover some porn sites to view as a diversion...

You want to see the awesome photos others are taking on their Pentax gear
You want someone to appreciate the photo you posted
You want to read and dream about all the gear you can't afford to buy but really, really need....
You want to feel good about answering someone else's question
You want to get answers to your own questions
The herd instinct makes you want to be part of a group.... and what better group is there?

What I can't figure out is why the wife spends so much time on Facebook.... I mean, really?

Would love to see some photos of Hampshire.

Mike

Awesome, I love your flowers on white, and what on earth was that lady doing coming up from the sewer? Looks like she was shopping! LOL. The two lambs were awesome too.

My great grandmother was born in Hampshire, although in Portsmouth not the country.

What's shopping ?

It's almost lambing season. The fences are in place. This year I'm gonna try a little harder. I find them so addictive ...

I stay on Pentax Forum for several reasons.

I have learned more about photography here than any other source.

I have made friends here. We have shared photos, given and received advice even though we may be thousands of miles apart and never met face to face.

I haven't been shooting and posting as much lately but I still drop in a few times a week just to keep up. There are far worse things to do with your time. Think for a moment. Most posts you are either getting help and learning something or you're helping someone else and that's an activity that you should never feel guilty about.
