We have many female members here
OK Let me check an English Dictionary. Oxford: chiefly British : a person of grotesque appearance,
NOUN
A rope or line fixed to the ground to secure a tent or other structure.
NOUN informal, A man.
VERB
Make fun of; ridicule. ‘she never stopped guying him about his weight’

I'd say I am guying the op about their choice of words. I do however hope he isn't guy in his appearance and he has a good guy on a tripod should the wind pick up. Oxford is a wonderful dictionary.

Merriam Webster:

Definition of guy
1 a : man, fellow
b : person —used in plural to refer to the members of a group regardless of sex

A gal here; I don't take offense to be called "one of the guys"! Many of my hobbies have been "guy orientated", and I've always been made to feel most welcome.

BTW, retired, ex Stand-in District Manager for Avon Products.

I comment,

too much for some ,

on a certain forum

still licensed to do what I have been able to do since 1982

but haven't actively pursued such work since 2008

try to convince the spouse to allow me to spend money on things, including but not limited to Pentax gear

still seeking knowledge about any and all things

hoping folks understand, enjoy or at the very least tolerate my attempts at humor ( humour for those who can't speak proper English )

Software engineer for 18 years, IT tech, then director before that. I also make a small amount from photography which I promptly spend on gear and travel!

I have been working as s/w developer for past 23 years. In a way I have two jobs. First job is to work where ever I am employed. My 2nd job is to prepare for next job interview. Contract duration is getting shorter and shorter from past 5 years. So no time for photography.

Good thing the forum does not have a bunch of hypersensitive millennials that would be triggered by the use of gender pronouns.

Blimey! I nearly spilt my tea into the keyboard there!

Seriously, when did the people of the dominions start spelling "humour" properly?

I think that certain countries that claim to use the English language have a strong " U " lobby which requires the addition of an unnecessary " u "

colour vs color

flavour vs flavor

behaviour vs behavior

humour vs humor

rumour vs rumor

honour vs honor

armour vs armor

american english - "ou" versus "o" in spelling words like "color"/"colour" - English Language & Usage Stack Exchange
