At least it was not 'the other place', along Hackney Road.
That other place is occasionally called Hackney High by those from the Dequeteville Tce school.

Always appreciate a Neil Peart reference.

How about this stanza?

"So the Maples formed a Union
and demanded equal rights
'The Oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light'
Now there's no more Oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet,
Axe,
And saw ..."

Hackneyed: Old, trite, overused. Like DPR's defense of their failures. But I think that the previous reference has no validity since Australia doesn't exist! That is the premise of this thread, is it not?

Sure....but seeing as the thread is all about nonsense...why not a bit more :-) As for DPR reviews...enough said, lets not give them any more oxygen and move on.

Hackney, named after the place, and the road on the outside.

It might stir some of the old scholars.

BTW: the two schools have about a third of the South Australian Rhodes Scholars, who somehow turn up in England.

Perhaps this is the real reason Amazon is stopping shipments to "Australia"?

There stated reason was spurious, something to do with exacting a 10% tax on shipments. On occasion I have bought stuff in UK to send direct to someone n another country. They took an 'estimated tax' charge on sale, but I had the advantage of not paying the 20% UK VAT, so it still made the thing cheaper than buying it for myself, and only paying for one lot of shipping at their 'much cheaper than the post office one item at a time' price for the international post, and after delivery I got a refund for part of the estimated tax.

Clearly you have hit the correct reason.

So, Craig, are you implying that if somewhere doesn't exist, then there is no-one who lives there?
What a strange thought!
What sort of universe do you live on?

One of many, perhaps?

One with politicians, unfortunately.

One with kooks, certainly.

Speaking of which, being a kook like a flat-earther must pay well.

Well better than NASA is paying me anyway.

Your preposition at the end of the sentence implies that you have pre-answered your rhetorical question - the only permissible answers for the kind of universe he lives ON are a 1 dimensional universe, which is a little limiting, or a 2 dimensional one, in which a favourite TV show is Flatman and Ribbons.
