BIG problem with M100 Macro

Just picked up an M100 Macro with dental scale and decided to give it a test run in the yard.
1st under natural light on Helicoid K for 1:1 (clover blossom).
Next I tried 1:2 with diffused flash (bee).
Then I tried to lay stealth in some bushes but could never seem to lock focus before subject skittered away.
Took a while to figure out the problem.
DO NOT let the cat join you on that Macro outing.
Really like this lens, seems to produce as well as my copy of the Tamron 90.

Nice shots.

Allen, I need to keep you and my wife apart. If perchance you do ever meet her, be assured that you secret is safe with me. Perhaps you should take a look at Maine Coon cats.

Maine Coon cats and their half Maine Coon offspring are super smart, friendly and talkative. More dog-like in a lot of ways, except they are better at warming your lap in the winter.

I don't see the problem either, that bee photo is well executed.

Thanks all, I actually bought this lens to try with IR, as the Tamron suffers from severe hot spotting from f8 and lower. Not much point in trying macro at 2.8!
Glad to say this lens performs stellar with Tiffen #87. Will have to give it a go with 850nm or higher.
(Oddly the cat doesn't seem to be a problem when I'm photographing bees!)

We also have a Maine Coon mix (not the one in the photo.) Through out the years I've trained everything from skunks to horses to do tricks but this Maine mix is the first cat I've been able to train to do a triple trick sequence or to lay down on voice command. Very intelligent. Wonder how it would be to work with a pure breed?

Here's the really big problem: Photography related threads do not belong in Gen Talk - PentaxForums.com

Sorry Tom. Original post was intended more as a spoof than having to do with the lens performance or photographic ability. Guess I redirected the intent when I posted the IR. Apologies again.
