I thought the deadline was 12 AM UTC Sept 1

I just converted 12 AM UTC time to what that would be for the Central Time zone US

was I wrong or was it extended

So it wasn't extended, that was the cutoff all along. All the other times in that post are in UTC, so I can see where the confusion would come from.
