Not to nitpick but a 1080i (does anyone even make a 1080i HDTV anymore?) is not superior or more expensive compared to a 720P, although it does have higher resolution (1920 x 1080 interlaced as opposed to 1024 x 768 - iirc - progressive scan). 1080p would obviously be the best choice from both a video and photo perspective.
I personally don't get the point of pixel peeping. In fact, for general web/computer use I usually save my raw files as 6mp JPEGs to save space. I dont see the point of having images that are four times the size of my laptop screen. However, I keep those RAW files around in case I do need to use them in a larger scenario someday. Maybe I am missing something here because I'm a noob, but I'm not sold on the need for super high resolution images for most purposes.
