Bereavement Leave

On July 23, 2018, the most courageous and strongest person I’ll ever know, lost her life long battle with death and joined her mother in heaven. Born in 1972, Jamie was engaged in a fight for survival from the moment she drew her first breath until she breathed her final one late Monday night. She leaves behind her grieving family and friends including me, her father. I will return to the forum, but I can’t say when.

Oh my, Tom... I'm so sorry for your loss. Jamie sounds like quite a girl.

My heart-felt condolences to you and your family. You are all in my thoughts.

Hello Tom. Please accept my heart-felt condolences on the loss of your daughter. My three girls were born around the same time as Jamie, and I’m grateful that they are all well, with families of their own. I can only guess what such a loss can mean.

It's often said that no parent should ever have to bury their child, but every case I hear of still brings tears to my eyes. Deeply felt condolences to you and those who loved her.

My genuine sympathies for the loss of your daughter, Tom. Life can be cruel and unfair sometimes, but we must hang on and continue as best we can.

My condolences. My friend lost her father a few weeks ago and it's always hard, regardless of how long the struggle for holding on to life has been. I wish you and your family all the best during and after these sad times.

Thank you for all the words of comfort and your prayers - they do help. Unlike most parents, we spent all of Jamie's life wondering not if she would be taken from us, but when. An hour after she was born, a specialist came in to tell me that he didn't believe she would live 24 hours. She spent the next 45 years disproving that and many other dire predictions. We were blessed that she was able to do so, yet I'm still greatly depressed and filled with sorrow that she is gone. Her last words to me were "Dad, it's not time yet." It was the only time in 45 years that she was mistaken.

I'm thankful her mother isn't here to share in the sorrow but instead is welcoming Jamie to her new life of pain free existence. As he did when his mom passed, my son has dropped his busy life to focus on helping me, and that has been an enormous help and blessing.

Again, thanks for you words of comfort and prayers, they mean a lot.

Sorry for your loss, I can't imagine what it must be like. I hope that eventually you will manage a smile when thinking of the times you had and how grateful you are to have had them, that has been my experience with people who were taken from us before their time, but it's an uphill battle to get to that point.
