Which brand has the least rednecks?

If I were to change brand it would be based on what I needed. All the time I can take the pictures I want with Pentax, I'll stick with it. Having said that though, If one of my cameras needs replacing, there's no guarantee the replacement will be a Pentax. But that's more due to Pentax management than the product.

I guess I'd go with Holga then.

Well, I suppose they're the closest thing on a lot of counts. It's probably the first thing I'd look at were I in the market to switch: for compatibility with the old school film bodies, which was a major draw to Pentax for me in the first place.

I'd like a digital back for my Argus C-3 please.

Otherwise I'd just like Pentax to make a FF body to use with my old Primes. (I'll buy a used one in 3-4 years)

Played with a Cannon 40D for awhile, nice camera. Nikon's lens compatibility game confuses and disturbs me.

I used to hate Canon and would choose Nikon over them in a heartbeat. But I would say Canon now. I was quite dissapointed when I found out my friend's D5000 didn't have a screw-drive, The T1i does have a screw-drive and I just felt that Canon is far less greedy than Nikon although both are thirsty. It's just ridiculous when I think how far Nikon would go in stripping down their DSLR's just to favor their higher ones now, I mean come on... The D40, is that suppose to be a DSLR? Also the D90 felt so flimsy and cheap compared to the Canon 50D at Best Buy. I used to say the D90 is always better than the 50D, but that's only with the sensor. Sure the D90 has a better sensor but I chose the K-7 over the 50D and D90 and both have better high iso noise levels over the K-7, shows that I care much more than sensors and that ergonomics play a big role which is where the 50D trumps the D90. I loved the feel of the Canon 50D when I held it, it just felt so good despite it's size and weight; I'm not going to lie and say that I sometimes wished I had a 50D instead. If it were any brand I would switch to if I were to ever switch away from Pentax which I won't, it would be Canon.

The T1i doesn't have a screw drive. All the EF mount lenses have built in focusing motors, so no screw drive needed on the bodies.

Dream on friend. Dream on.

AS for switching I at this point I wouldn't. The Pentax line does what I need it to now which is 99% personal. For what I was shooting for pay Pentax still did the job as well as any other brand and in some cases better. So why switch? I will say though there is a piece of glass Nikon doesn't offer in the States that I'd really like to have. The last price I heard was just a touch out of my league though.

Hmmm Maybe a Hassy.

Well, I wouldn't switch brands to step sideways for anyone, really: if I would do that, I wouldn't be here in the first place.

If I were needing more of certain capabilities, then I'd be looking at d300s, and, with Canon, I'm not actually sure just what till it started looking like big beasties.

D40's are nice little cameras, though. If they functioned well with old lenses, I might be slinging one for the time being and waiting till I could swing that d300.

I switched "TO" Pentax!

I went from an Olympus E-510 to a Pentax K20D..after a year without a DSLR.
Not going to change for a while, if at all. Great Glass and a High Res. sensor makes me very happy

Canon for their MP-E65 AND MT-24EX.

If not for Macro, I'd choose nikon any day of the week over canon.

Canon all the way. I had a film Rebel and then I replaced it with a ZX-50 because I had my old lenses and found out they would work on my new Pentax. The Rebel was better in terms of performance with a few better features including the whisper drive film advance. And I am very familiar with the 30D as I had to shoot my relative's wedding with it; it is his camera. I also have several P&S models by them and I am very familiar with the software......and I like the L lens lineup..... All I need is 5; the the 16-35, 28-70/f2.8, the 28-105/f4, and the 70-200/f2.8, and the 100-400/f5.6 with a FF body. Tak on the pro grade wide angle zoom in the EF-S series of lenses with a 50D as my backup AND a great telephoto body because of the smaller sensor........ I am also familiar with the 580EXII flash.....

The older 6mp D50 has a screw drive, so, maybe before the lenses had built in motors that where contact driven only, All Nikon DSLRs had screw drive?. Anyway, I get my dads D50 with a the standard kit lens, someday (not too soon I hope! )

With a D50 you'll be able to AF older glass, but you still won't get metering with AI/AI-s lenses.

Canon. Apparently they have been using ring-usm on lenses since 1987. They should have it pretty well figured out by now.
