Thanks for posting these. It is important to remember. There are no Great War veterans now, but I guess there are quite a few of us of an age where we knew many from WWII or had fathers who served in that conflict. I knew many of Dad's friends and I am writing a book about their exploits at the moment. I have just come back from the memorial service in Brisbane where someone asked me who I knew among the old soldiers.
The photo of James Kerrison my Grand Father was taken in Australia when he was serving in the Royal Navy ( Days of Wind) As a Killick then. It
was is a hand coloured black & white and survived the trip home to England , a fire there and eventually to Port Arthur ( now Thunder Bay) . The colour is still good and it is an Oval Shape (16 " high)mounted in an Oval Frame ( I dont know if it is original - the frame). He was 13 years old when he joined the Navy on the Island of St Helena where he was born(where Napoleon was incarcerated & interred) and honorably discharged at 36 (23 Year Career in the Navy). Had more careers after including a London Bobby on the East India Dock section of London. A book could be written on him alone. God Bless all Who serve in the defense of our Freedom
Regards Bruce
