congratulations, may you receive that gift for years to come
Thanks Allen. I hope I can keep that one going too. Besides, it is a lot less noisy with only five of us left.

Amongst the various gifts from my family - and my favourite by far - was a new Lodge 12" / 30.5cm cast iron skillet pan that I can't wait to use. In all my years, this is the first really good pan I've owned I'll get round to seasoning it in the next couple of days and start cooking with it in the New Year
Congratulations. We love cooking with our Lodge 10" cast iron Dutch oven. It's the perfect size for just us two. I stock up on charcoal briquettes in the summer because they're harder to find around here in the winter. There's just something about cooking in cast iron that makes the food taste better.

For us, Christmas was my brother-in-law's survival of a quintuple bypass surgery on December 23rd at the ripe age of 54 !
God Bless.

I couldn't stop myself from picking up a K-1 II a couple of months ago when the package deals were available. I informed my wife that was her Christmas present to me. She still wrapped two shirts and socks for me to open yesterday.

Did anyone get that dream camera of lens this Christmas?
My lovely wife got me a pair of (requested) LED light panels for doing stock photos and videography... Cannot wait to get my work area clean again!

How many "frames per second" will you be processing?

Pentax D FA 100 Macro F 2/8. My wife's Xmas gift to me. I've been using it on my K1, mostly for candid indoor portraits, using available light. Famed photographer, Eisie Eisenstadt of Life magazine fame used to use his Leica M and F series cameras with fast lenses using available light...but I mostly do it because my family doesn't like flashes. I think I'll be using the 100 Macro, yes occasionally for macro pix, but probably more so for candid portraits. I like the 100mm aspect...don't have to get so close, I like F 2.8, clarity and good bokeh to boot and I like the feel and the look of the aluminum body of the 100. Beautiful lens...has a 'serious' workmanlike appearance, in my biased eyes anyway.

Well I tested it out this morning and the processing time dropped from 44 seconds to 6 seconds with images from my K1. It will be even faster on images from my K3, my K5-IIs and my Lumix DMC FZ1000.

A picture of the aftermath of the grandchildren's visit. We will rebuild.

Nothing for Pentax. But I did expand my collection of mechanical SLRs by winning an auction for an early Nikkormat FTn with a Nikkor H 50/2. I'm bidding on a lot that includes an Asahi Spotmatic with a Super Takumar 55/1.8 but that doesn't end until tonight.

I always say....go big...or go home.... I find in the past, I've been stung by bees, etc...when I try to take a macro with a piddly, little 100mm Macro. But with my 1000 mm Macro...no more stings and I can take close ups an 1/8 th of a mile...or more... away...and no bug ever realizes it's the subject of a close up photo.
