The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) Ben Stiller plays a photographic film librarian for Life Magazine. A mysterious but famous photographer (Sean Penn) sends him on an adventurous search for missing negative 25 to publish in Life's last edition. Shirley MacLaine plays Mitty's mother. Loved this film when it came out.

Raymond Chandler's The Big Sleep (1946) with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. Great line: "She tried to sit on me while I was standing up.." Philip Marlowe investigates a blackmail ring that uses drugs and concealed cameras to get pornographic photos of women. But the story gets more and more mysterious. Max Steiner's brilliant score underlines the cheeky humour in the dialogue with hints of Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks.

The Naked City- 1948, starring Barry Fitzgerald is an excellent movie. Watched it on TCM awhile ago and I believe it may have been on their Film Noir series, with Eddie Muller (well worth watching just for Eddie's comments and insights) and if I recall this movie tried to capture the 'look' of famous NYC photographer WeeGee photography of the '30's and '40's. Quite a gritty, B&W view that certainly reminds me of WeeGee's photography of the underbelly of life in NYC during that time period. WeeGee was apparently hired as a film consultant for this movie.

When I think of WeeGee, I think ...have camera, will travel (in NYC), police radio in his car and fast picture developing system in the trunk of his old Chevy.

Peeping Tom....a weird film and it finished Michael Powells career just about.
City of God....well worth a watch and a cure for GAS
Public Eye...

Kind of side character to film but I love Linda Hunt in ‘The year of living dangerously’

Soz...movie buff here. Love film, love shooting it, watching it, addicted to celluloid (must be the fumes)

Paris Can Wait - What is supposed to be a short car ride quickly devolves into a pleasant leisurely trip as Jacques, a French foodie, can't resist taking any opportunity he can to stop every hour or so to sample new food. He is also openly flirtatious with Anne but she begins to question his intentions when he repeatedly uses her credit card to foot the bill for the gourmet meals they are sampling. They share a romantic dinner together where Jacques admires Anne's photography, and asks why she doesn't share it with her husband.
the main character Anne does not part with Leica
