Wouldn't that have been a winter garage project if it needed any restoration? It is OK to buy something that is a deal because it is pretty and well crafted you know! That is how I ended up with a K-1!

Restoration is a fantastic learning experience, very rewarding and fun. It probably won't be a good deal. I spent at least $2500 restoring a canoe, probably worth $1000 now. I recommend a big heated garage.

Save your money for the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Show, there will be plenty of opportunities!
I am really going to try & get up there this year. I had the opportunity to take a 4-day sail aboard the 1924 wooden schooner Zodiac out of Bellingham, it was wonderful fun...

My first report.

High Falls on the Nipissing River. I can tell you where it is, but you probably can't get there. it's in the middle of Algonquin Park, fly ins aren't allowed, it takes even an experienced young fit tripper a couple days to get there, slogging though rocky shallows and bog and few small lakes That give you a few minutes away from portaging every now and then) and some very rugged long dangerous portages, including the famous "Heart Attack Hill."

It's beside a 1300 meter portage, there are no short cuts.
