Hopefully, you get along better with the new knife.

A pocket knife has never been part of my apparel
Just found them too bulky in my pockets

Bet your pet frog didn't like the space it took up is the real reason.

Nah....no frogs 'round here...nor where I grew up either
I guess it was a frog free zone
Didn't do stuff needing a pocket knife

The Victorinox Spartan - being lozenge-shaped with rounded scales, and having just two layers of tools - is barely noticeable in a rear jeans pocket; at least, that's been my experience. The Wenger I tried - with its ergonomically-shaped scales and extra layer of tools - is just a little too bulky for me.

When I used to wear suits for my day job, I only carried a tiny Victorinox SD knife on the same key-ring as my car and house keys. That lived in my brief-case during the day, but I still found it an invaluable tool and used it several times every week for opening letters and parcels, filing a broken nail, etc.

----

My replacement Spartan has arrived, and it feels immediately familiar. All is well

Excellent news.

If you ever need a real knife, give me enough time (and money!) and I'll make you one like this

Ahhh... I love Damascus blades <drool>

Beautiful work, Sandy. Out of my price range, I'd guess. The most exotic blades I own are merely a couple of Case pocket knives and larger Buck lockers. I do have a small Damascus fixed blade that a family friend made as part of a metalworking project, and it's pretty nice. Not the same level as yours, though...

Not an EDC, special occasions only tucked down a sock. Damascus steel blade, Nepalese buffalo handle, Scottish silver bands.
Ooooh, something like that might have to be my next project. My formal kilt needs a sgian dubh....

It's just dawned on me that the one thing my Leatherman Wave does not have, that I frequently need, is a corkscrew. I have, twice now, needed to open a bottle with the Leatherman and while it works to stab the cork it's not ideal.

My collection,

Wenger 1975 "Soldier" I've had for over 40 years.

Victorinox "Explorer" I bought in Switzerland in 1986.

Victorinox "Swiss Champ" I found in a charity shop at a price I couldn't resist.

Me neither, but lately I have grown to like my Leatherman Micra.
It's very handy and small enough to attach to your key ring.

But does it have a corkscrew?
