Lots of rain over the East coast where the fires have been,I'm sure an assistance to the people still on the job.
I hear the rains have bought up dams to 60%+ capacity, that will be good to replenish the water that was used to fight the fires.

The smoke made for a dramatic sunset last night, the moon was spectacular too. It was a flimsy pretext to dig out one of my A* Super Telephoto lenses.

Pentax K10D - Pentax A*400mm f/2.8 ED [ IF] ISO 800 f/8 1/1000th - The Pentax FA*250-600mm f/5.6 could do better, regrettably I'm having problems with the filter holder on mine.

And some are having problems containing the water...

QLD weather: Dam burst fears spark evacuation texts to residents

Going from one extreme to the other is going to take its toll on structures like this, something that was probably never really considered during the design phase.

Unless I've missed it (which is feasible} this appears to be the only forum that DOESN'T have a thread on the virus! I remember watching a tv series back in the seventies called "Survivors" where a world wide pandemic had killed off 95% of the population, in those days my only thought was "great, no school" but now I'm not so blase.

Lets hope that the world can overcome this very quickly.

Ruby Princess!

What an absolute SHAMBLES!

2700 allowed to disembark without any checks???

Over the weekend 49 known infections, as of this morning(Tuesday)...107.

One of the original 49 is a sister of a friend, only in self isolation at this stage.

HOWEVER, a woman in her 70s went straight from the boat to Royal Prince Alfred hospital and died this morning.

The NSW government deemed the boat a low risk due to it only visiting NZ.

This thing is REAL, follow the safest measures you can.

There have been other cruise ships dock and the same thing has happened but they hardly rate media attention due to the low number of reported cases.

I think the problem is there is nowhere to qurantine / isolate that many people at once .. so . self isolation at home .. Sounds resonable but if any are infected they can transmit to others whilst stocking up on provisions as they start home isolation.
The majority of cases are overseas travellers.
I watched the news when the last flight s allowed to land in Aus the passengers where whith there loved ones then and not in 2 weeks later after isolation..

Thats how you can catch it...
Talk about putting the cart before the horse.
