Biggest "grump" I have is the price of the pinch caps (having lost the OEM one for the Sigma 17-70 that I lost on a recent holiday!) - how on earth can ANYBODY charge around twenty quid (circa $25 US) for a simple piece of plastic with 5 parts including 2 small springs! .

Even allowing for import costs & charges and local taxes and then local postal charges, it should not cost more than around £5-6 - BTW, that also applies to most camera/lens brands than Pentax!!

Well, I have just come across an ebay uk supplier (Microglobe) that is selling pinch caps with integral elastic keepers for around £6-10 a piece inc P&P - see here - so my replacement 72mm pinch cap is costing £6.99, rather than a LOT more!

Microglobe are a pretty well known "grey importer" of photo gear, and with a "variable" reputation for warrantee claims - but I doubt I'll need to claim if the cap goes wrong as it should either work or not on arrival!

I have found a local photo shop here was a good source for pentax rear caps. I got four for a couple dollars.
(If you need a 49mm lens cap, I found that the squeeze kind 52mm will fit! At least mine do)

I have both 52mm and 49mm lens caps, now I'll have to see if a 52 fits on a 42.

I'd be surprised if a 52 fits on a 42. I only found a 52 fits on a 49.
10mm is a big difference

I find with the cheap 3rd party caps, they are rough edged or poorly sized and sometimes the clamping force isn't enough to keep the cap on. I'm not going to say I never use them, but the lenses I use the most are paired to the genuine Pentax front and back caps.

I find that Sigma lenses don’t hold any rear caps well except Sigma caps. All others, including genuine Pentax caps don’t fit tightly.
