I wonder if Pujols would consider pulling a "Tom Brady" and unretire.

how much would the Cardinals pay him

and how many more he hits this year

would he DH only

imagine the ticket sales if the Cardinals announce he would only play home games

And at Wrigley. Only 300 miles away from St. Louis, and he has a career .993 OPS at the Friendly Confines.

BoSox - Yanks called after 6 innings due to rain.

Judge was pitched tough all series, got some hits and walks but no HR's.

He's nearly 43 and has battled injuries for the last several years of his career. 21 home runs and a .262 batting average are decent numbers for this late in his career, but my guess is that St. Louis is ready to move on and replace his spot with someone a little younger who can actually field a position.

Glad to see Bello held up pretty well over 6 innings, hopefully we have the makings of another starter for next season. We'll need starters and most of a bullpen to compete in 2023.

I'm sure you are right, but he has a 1.133 OPS versus lefties this year... just incredible. And those 21 HR's are in only 292 at-bats.

It's funny how things have worked out for the Cardinals: they let him go to the Angels exactly when they should have, and now they have him back exactly when they need him.

Probably a lot depends on his head space and whether he wants to try another year combined with whether the Cardinals have someone else that they are wanting to give a chance. If there is no one else in the Cardinal's organization that they are wanting to give a chance to, he certainly can feast on lefties and do occasional pinch hitting.

Hurricane-influenced weather is forecast for Atlanta this weekend, where the Mets will face the Braves in a series that will largely determine who wins the NL East and nabs the 2nd seed. It will be interesting to see what MLB does if any of the games are unplayable, given the regular season ends 10/5 and the postseason begins 10/7.

The 2nd seed (NL East winner) receives a first round bye, so there is a lot at stake.

Listening to the MLB channel and an interview with someone who knows Pujols, I think as much as he loves the game, Pujols is smart enough to know it's better to go out at the end of the season as an everyday player on a high note, rather than be rolled out for limited use, or even worse, have a bad season next year and which overshadows all his accomplishments from a great 2022 season and a career.

Both the Mets and Barves played 10 inning barn-burners tonight, with the result that the Mets head to Atlanta to begin a 3 games series with NY leading the division by 1 game.

Phillies are now tied with Milwaukee for the final wild card slot, after being swept by the Cubs and going 3-10 over the last 2 weeks.

Cal Raleigh with the pinch-hot HR in the bottom of the 9th and the Mariners are in the postseason for the first time in 21 years...
