Yeah, it's a real bummer.

The player we were trying to think of is Kendry Morales. Broke his leg jumping on home plate after hitting a game-winning grand slam. Thanks, Google.

According to wiki

" Morales is perhaps most infamous for suffering an ankle injury on May 29, 2010, during a celebration of his walk-off grand slam, which kept him out of Major League Baseball for nearly two years. "

Incorrect use of “infamous” by some wiki editor. We live in a post-literate age.

I can’t wait for opening day!

Does Wrigley have any prohibitions against the camera gear you intend to bring along?

José Altuve has just left the WBC game USA vs. VEN after having been hit by pitch in the 5th Inning:

" Team Venezuela saw Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve exit their World Baseball Classic Quarterfinal against Team USA with an apparent injury after being struck by a pitch on the hand and wrist area.

Altuve hit the ground in pain before being escorted off the field by Venezuela's medical staff. Team USA pitcher Daniel Bard is the one who hit Altuve after having zero command on the evening. "

No more information at this time

According to an ESPN article this morning

". . . after the game, we found out that he suffered a fracture. . . .Altuve was being evaluated for an injury to his right hand and they would provide an update Sunday. It was reported during the Fox broadcast that the initial concern was a broken right thumb for Altuve. . . . "

Tough break, no pun intended, for Altuve and the Astros.

I listened to a bit of the USA vs. Venezuela game early this morning. Great plays and hitting, I really think the WBC it a great addition to the baseball calendar.

He'll probably be back by the All Star Break.

Some people are griping about the WBC now because of the injuries, but I like it.

As if it would have been better for these players to have injuries the first week or two of the season. Injuries happen. They even happen in spring training.

(The NBA does a huge amount of load management where players just sit out. It doesn't seem to have reduced injuries.)
