Meanwhile on the front lines...

As an essential worker I have been reporting to work throughout this crisis.

We are instructed to follow CDC guidelines, which are not specific to our work.
Mail processing though automated is a very hands on labor-intensive operation.

I was ill a couple weeks ago; I came home with a fever.
Fortunately it broke within a couple days.
I had a dry cough, body aches, fatigue, diarrhea etc.
Fortunately I experienced no major breathing difficulties.
My doctor prescribed a dose of Xofluza and 5 days of Azithromycin.

He said it was probably the flu. He had given me this year's flu shot last Fall.
He didn't test for COVID-19 because "the reagents are unavailable".

I was out four days. I returned to work for one day, then was out again
for another four days with conjunctivitis aka pink eye.
This time my doctor gave me Tobramycin eye drops.
I still have what appears to be a large dark floater in one eye.
I am hopeful it seems to be fading over time - or I'm getting accustomed to it.

Meanwhile numerous coworkers have been out presumably suffering from COVID-19
and groups of their contacts have been required to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Chris

Johns Hopkins University has a pretty good count on cases worldwide and by counties in the US.
Lets see if I can link to it here.
Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center - Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center
This will not be over in a month or two.

Yipes! And probably none or very few of these cases have actually been tested for inclusion in the "official" numbers.

I'm not sure how the country can reopen if the case rate is many times higher that the "official" numbers and varying in unknown ways.

Thanks for the report and get well soon!

Chris,
You need to get tested.. your symptoms sound like covid and Ive read that in many cases pink eye has been noted.

You should also be on quarantine for 14 days.

Rest, hydrate and get tested if at all possible.

Hope you feel better soon.

We are so screwed in the US because almost no one is willing to blow into the same candle and put this thing out.
Cuomo was talking to deaf ears...
Hogan told us to stay home ( all that could comply did) and just now, mandated masks.
Introverts heaven I guess.
Be safe you all.

We will remember them all, that is who makes it, will.
Any notion that this country will open and be normal in few months is foolish.
My 21 yo comes home and puts her scrubs in the laundry every night...
At the mod... I truly hope that this is not the case. The evidence is starting to build up unfortenately.

Yep!

It's interesting how many countries Canada makes currency for.
Years ago I was in England, went to the national museum in London ( how could I say no when it is free!). I was in a room where there was a person at a table displaying UK bank notes. I asked what she was demonstrating ...she said the new plastic money. I said , oh, we already have it in Canada, I think we may have developed it for you. She said no. I said yes...and here is one of them from my pocket...and BTW if you hold it up to the light and look through one of the clear circular areas you will see a hologram. She said no , I said yes, she said no. Best time I had at the museum!

From Gold standard to poor standard here....
Mixed signals on what to do, mis-steps on the advice on mask wearing, poor decisions to keep the economy and schools going and ignoring the welfare of foreign workers here has resulted in an explosion of cases.

Government here refuses to even use the word "lock down" for fear of loss of face and perception by the rest of the World. So they have coined it "Circuit Breaker"

Our prime minister (who was in the advertising game before politics) has used the term "hibernating". I wish I'd thought of it.

Polar bears are always cool - especially when hibernating.
