RIP Kenny Rogers

He was 81.
The Rogers family announced his death on Twitter. They said he died "peacefully" under hospice care at his home in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

RIP Mr.Kenny Rogers!

I met him some time in the early 1970's at a club in Toronto,Ontario, Canada. Myself and a few friends were regulars at a bar where Ronny Hawkins played most nights, some may remember the "Nick" or full name the Nickleodeon at Yonge & Dundas Streets. Anyhow we were having beers (by the jug) when I noticed someone I thought I recognized sitting at the Hawks table, so I asked "do I know you, you look familiar?" He responded "no but we hang around a lot at the CTV studios" It was of course Kenny Rogers with Mickey Jones and Thelma Camacho had come to hang out with legendary Ronny Hawkins for the night!

I am sure they never remembered me but I remember them, rest in peace Kenny Rogers

I met him one time at the Regina Inn. I had just finished hustling my talents as a wedding photographer to a potential job. I was in the elevator going down, it stopped and Mr. Rogers got on. I had a Nikon F2s that I carried everywhere and a couple of portfolio books. He struck up a conversation with me on the way down and we ended up in the coffee shop for an hour talking photographs.
He was a charming and engaging man.
