Digging up Abraham Lincoln to use as a mascot for the modern Republican party is
kinda pathetic - instead of trying to legitimize today's Repuglican party using Abe,
why don't you ask how today's party failed him?

And your personal voting history doesn't have much bearing on your present attitude,
or my argument.

It has about as much validity as using the Mason-Dixon Line to stereotype people in the south in the 21st Century. What do you mean by my attitude? Are you implying I'm a racist for voting for McCain? I have been one of the biggest Bush critics because I didn't think he was up to the task of being President. I don't think Obama is either, and his politics are suspect.

For the record, I thing political parties are fundamentally flawed.

Of course, everyone south of the Mason Dixon line (and many North) are convinced that the rest of the world are idiots, and that they, themselves are smart and righteous, so numbers like these are meaningless to them.

as a Texan, and a current resident of Georgia (and a slightly liberal Independent) who ended up voting for Obama. I resent that remark.

A Texan through and through my friend and proud of it, even I don't completely agree with what most of Texas seems to believe regarding politics. despite some of my own views having changed here recently (towards the conservative side) my younger brother (currently resides in Huntsville, Texas) voted for the first time in his life. he usually doesn't have much concern for politics. he voted for Obama.

He who robs from Peter to pay Paul will generally always have Paul's support.

The United States, and pretty much the rest of the world, has a growing number of Pauls as is evidenced by the results of yesterdays US Presidential election.

Please note that the POPULAR vote in the US was 52% Obama, 47% McCain.... Not exactly the landslide the ELECTORAL COLLEGE numbers (349 to 162) make it appear.

As for non-US citizens voting in US elections... I don't suppose you want us meddling in YOUR elections do you?

Wish Obama luck. He will need it. He is in the honeymoon stage now. That never lasts long. Usually anything that rises fast also falls just as fast. He rose pretty fast.
The media played a big part in his election. They will soon turn to their old ways of making every thing negative. Hope he is ready (Hillary wasn't). Doubt he even gets elected a second term. Few can live up to the build up he has received.
thanks
