Sad news. As many teenage boys in the 60's, I many a fantasy about Mrs. Peel.

It was in the New York Post also.

Diana Rigg, Star of ?The Avengers? and ?Game of Thrones,? dead at 82

I first saw Diana Rigg in The Avengers. She replaced another equally famous English Actress Honour Blackman. As a young teenager I watched both of them, alongside Patrick MacNee in The Avengers.

Wonderful show, the lead actors had wonderful chemistry and as Patrick MacNee said they had some great scriptwriters and actors, many of them Shakespearean who brought these scripts alive.

RIP, Ms. Rigg, what a tremendously talented actor. .

Sad news indeed. Rest in Peace.

I have the Avengers Box DVD set of all her episodes which I had binge watched earlier this year. Perhaps time for another binge.

If you are in the UK, then she is "Mrs Pumphrey" in the new remake of "All Creatures Great and Small" on Tuesday nights on Channel 5.

Quite right, I just read a review (very good review) of the new remake of All Creatures Great and Small and I was looking forward to seeing it, particularly with Diana Rigg as Mrs. Pumphrey. We'll get the show I'm sure in a year or two, in North America.

Very sad.

Beautiful women, great talent. One of the reasons I was so dedicated to "The Avengers". She was the bright spot in the Bond Movie. In reading some of the tributes to her in the news, she was respected as a master of her craft. She will be missed.

I am only a couple of years younger than she was, and now see the world I grew up in disappearing daily. This is an additional sad example. An intelligent lady she was. Yet another loss of elegance from the past.

Most recently she was seen as Veronica, Becky's mom in the excellent BBC series Detectorists.
Diana Rigg was also the real-life mother of Rachael Stirling - the actress who played Becky.

RIP Diana Rigg

Chris
