Please have a little respect while using the Marketplace !

I thought of including that into my "rant" thread but ...here it is.

I find that some potential buyers demonstrate little "respect" after starting a conversation via the PM system.

Some would ask tons of questions; requesting more pictures; asking to test the item further with different adaptors, camera(s), etc... and, at the end, asking for a price reduction for an item that has already been fairly reduced already.

Fine! That's what the Marketplace is all about for a buyer: get the best possible price for the best possible item.

Now, what really bugs me is after all efforts to please a potential buyer, some don't even have the guts to AT LEAST respond as to whether or not they are interested ... Easy enough! Right?
Days pass without a response, you (me) send a PM back asking if they made a decision ... no reply!!! I find that quite insulting.

End of rant!

I find that selling can be difficult and quite anxiety provoking.
I always try to set my price as low as possible to encourage a quick sale.

This has nothing to do with price.

I think that would be bad behaviour even on a public site like Gumtree. It is completely unacceptable from members of the forum.

I haven't bought or sold a lot in the PF marketplace. There was one instance where a prospective buyer left me hanging for some time but generally the experiences have been good, both as buyer and seller. I hope the behaviour you have endured is an isolated experience.

Unfortunately courtesy isn't all that common anymore.

Reduced for quick sale

By offering a very good price buyers know they must act fast.
There's less time for those endless PMs from the undecided and those with a mere passing interest.
No replies are needed except to buyer once item has been marked SOLD.

Going (or gone) the same way as common sense.

I've had very good results/experience at the Marketplace over the years.
Seems like some buyers are now becoming a "little" discourteous these days. The least I expect from them is some response ... yes or no? Do you want the item or not?
Is this too much to ask?

although I have mostly bought, not sold

I, too, have had good experiences with the forums' marketplace:

yes I ask about " wriggle " room on the listed price

yes I have asked time to consider and check

yes I have told sellers that if someone meets their selling price to sell it to them instead of waiting for my decision

and

yes I always keep in touch and let the seller know my final decision asap

YMMV

And the story continues ... PM's inquiring about my items for sale on the MarketPlace and then .... "blank" !!
Very tiring to give information without even a glint of response ... are you or are you not interested?

my favorite is to ask some questions, haggle a bit..... then "poof" - they disappear...

nothing....

Many years ago when I was young, I was a salesman. Respect, politeness, etc...are often not part of the deal. You may wish things were different and sometimes I did, but in many cases that will not be the case. I don't anticipate things will change.
