one thing i dont like about the lens clubs is that certain people end up posting a ridiculous amount of pictures without really discussing them

like "this was a difficult shot due to flare but look how the lens handeled it"

or "this was done at wide open handheld, look at the clarity" etc.

so um.. yeah

if you're reading this, and you're one of those people, try to add a little bit more depth to the photos to illustrate why the image is good,

otherwise just give us a link to your blog or whatever so we dont have to swim through a sea of images just to read the discussion (if any!)

That is a very good point Gooshin. It would be nice if postings played up a particular feature and/or showed a lens' weakness. I also agree with Lowell regarding backing up club postings with a comprehensive lens review in either the Pentax or third-party lens databases.

The lens review should be done in the data base though.

I'm not saying we should get rid of said clubs...it's a forum and we can organize the posts however people like to post them. But the points made that the threads are though to wade through are valid...I mean how the Takumar club is a big club. There are a lot of lenses. Tamron is an entire company!!! Third Party lens club...that's every lens in the world that isn't a pentax. eep. I'm not ripping on the clubs, just noting a curious way that we chose to interact with one another!

Never heard of that one. As far as I know we have:

Takumar Lens Club
Tammy Lens Club
Off-Brand lens Club
Soviet Lens Club

(I'm sure I'm missing some)

We also have the "Why the (insert lens here) Doesn't Suck" threads for the DA35, DA*50-135, etc.

Maybe we need a "Why it doesn't suck to have so many clubs" club...

Don't forget the "Dirt Cheap Lens Club" and the "Dead Lens Club"

Steve

(Particularly fond of the dirt cheap club...)

See we don't even know what clubs exist!

Even if we had a Club forum section where the threads could all be put together in one place, that would be a step in the right direction...then those who like hanging out in clubs can go party

I am so sorry! The "M" club is also one of the most worthy since its original aim was to bring respect to the oft-maligned Pentax-M lenses.

- Sorry about that Jay. Since I haven't owned a "M" lens since the mid-80's, I haven't joined that group.

- I've never owned a "K" lens or a Voigtlander lens for that matter.

- The "A" lens group was formed after I had already gotten rid of my A50/1.7, A35-70, and A70-210. Great lenses, great club...

- Same goes for the "F" Club

- I forgot all about the Fisheye club. I've posted a bunch of pics there...
