The issue has to do with the length of time which you are immune after a COVID infection. It seems as though most people who have mild to moderate cases have waning antibody levels over a three to six months period of time after their infection.
I have known a number of people who did catch COVID twice and unfortunately, the second time was often worse than the first time.
This "new strain" is more contagious, but not a particular reason to get immunized or not.
