Canon Ixus Digital. It cost me around $1100AUD from recollection. I stepped up considerably when I bought the *istD, especially in lens buying.

Pretty sure mine was a Kodak EasyShare 2 mp camera. Still have it in the garage, at times using it to document a car restoration. In actuality I end up using the iPhone mostly. Still surprised how acceptable 2 mp photos are for certain uses.

Mine was a Nikon Coolpix 950 (?) - the one where the lens was on a swivel :

which was recommended for digiscoping back in the nineties. Results not over successful. Accessories very expensive - eventually stolen.

Some small Nikon Coolpix that was useless if the sun wasn't up. Kind of a horrible little camera; slow to start, slow to shoot, I rarely was able to hold it still enough to take non-blurred images, etc.

After that, K100D, which was such a huge step up it's not funny.

Mine was a Canon Powershot SX 530 HS. I got it in 2015 after my 35mm P&S died and I decided that digital had advanced far enough to compete with film. Before that I was not impressed with digital. Though it has a tiny sensor, it is super lightweight, and does great in good lighting. I still use it when visiting family (well, I did before COVID. Now we aren't visiting) as it is easy to use for everyone. I must set it for slight underexposure to avoid blown highlights. For quick pics and P&S use it is great. The aperture is narrow, so I keep it on P mode and auto ISO, but with a 1200mm equivalent zoom it can come in handy!!

Mine was a K-30 as a 50th birthday present from my wife. I was a reluctant convert to digital but as a long-time Pentax user I decided that the K30 was the camera for me if I was going to make the move. Now i can't ever see myself taking another picture with film.

A 2008 Fujifilm F100fd. It was a high school graduation gift from my parents. Funny to think back on it and consider how it kicked off such a passion. Thanks for starting this thread Lochaber!

Mine was a 2004 or '05 Panasonic Lumix DMC 8 , If I recall correctly. The lens was labeled as a Leica, but having a real Leica rangefinder and lens...this was no Leica lens. The Pano wasn't cheap.

It was a terrible little camera. Shutter lag was unacceptable, image quality not good at all. The clerk at the photo store tried her best to convince me to get a Canon G series instead, but no, I didn't listen to her, much to my regret. I eventually did get a Canon G 12 and the difference was astounding.

Mine was a one megapixel HP C20, purchased in 1999. I thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread.

I still have it and it still works, although it's festooned with Hello Kitty stickers my niece attached. 😁.

My first was a Fuji FinePix point and shoot. I don't remember the model. I handed it down to one of my kids. The photo quality was awesome and it wasn't long after that I made the jump from film SLR's to a DSLR, the Pentax K10D.
