I'm the 2nd owner of a '67 Matchless 750 Scrambler motorcycle. It was sold at the motorcycle dealership...when new....as a '69 model. I ordered some new parts from a specialist motorcycle parts supplier and the owner of the company, told me that according to the serial numbers of the engine/ motorcycle that it was not a '69 model but a '67 model. He provided me with the date of manufacture , which was August, 1967. The previous owner told me that the bike had been bought with a couple of other Matchless Scramblers in '69 from the American distributer. Apparently they were new old stock that didn't sell in '67. or' 68. But they were bought in 1969 and sold as '69 models. No issue for me, as I wanted a Norton or Matchless (same bike, different badging from same factory) Scrambler.

1967 was the last year of manufacture for Matchless motorcycles.

Nowadays I think it would be hard to move a unsold '20 model vehicle , and say it is a '21 model vehicle. I don't mind as this is the exact motorcycle I wanted and I don't care whether it was a '67 or a '69'.
