Never happened once in the long history here.

Apparently.
I read that somewhere.
You are correct.

As this thread does not have a photo, I'll add one here from the Royal website. (Obviously not my image)

Sounds reasonable to me.

On the other hand the Republic is coming to Australia sooner rather than later.
The Queen Elizabeth keeps royalists alive here , after She goes.... who knows?

Am no Royalist, nor Republican (am not even Aussie).

But i spent years in Oz and jave always kept in touch with Oz news etc.

was in Australia during the Referendum in 1999.

I honestly think that was as near as Australia will ever get.
(If i recall correct, Victoria was the only state that sort of voted overwhelmingly Republican).

Just do not see it happening within next 15-20 years.

(Scotland as well).

There seems to be a feeling that the push for an Australian head of state might get a boost once the current queen goes.

I certainly hope so.

If I was the queen, I may have considered making Harry isolate in the Tower of London just to make a point. But then she is far too good a person to do that.

Actually, the monarchy is absolutely non political. The monarch refers to “my government” whichever party is in power. She does not interfere in politics.

Without doubt she absolutely does interfere in politics and has the power to veto laws which would be injurious to her or her family and their wealth. Britain is a sham of a democracy while the monarchy exists..

Yep, I agree wholeheartedly with the above as it is a matter of fact. Monarchy is by definition political as it is a form of rule. I'll not add anything which might be inflammatory

Welp, since some couldn't restrain themselves from turning this into a political discussion; in violation of forum rules..................
