What is your drink? (Alcohol related)

I looked around, and either my search sucks, or there really isn't a page/thread dedicated to drinking (there is one on beer, specifically, but its more about good time, rather than the mixology aspect). So, figured, lets talk about drinks. What are you making? What are you craving? What is your go-to? How do you make yours different? What ratios do you use/prefer? What brands do you prefer? any fun stories about drinking? etc etc etc. This also includes anyone recovering from hangovers, or have gone completely sober for various reasons. If you've gone sober, what do you drink when out and about?

please be courteous, and follow all forum rules. No politics, no swearing, no bullying, no bashing of any sorts.

Also to note: alcohol does not equate to having fun. People can have fun without drinking. please dont bash those who choose to abstain.

I don't drink much, but my go to is a result of just throwing stuff I had on hand into a blender.

Chocolate fudge swirl ice cream
A little milk
Creme de Cacao
Creme de Menthe

I since learned this is basically a grasshopper, but my twist was I also added some Captain Morgan rum to it. I didn't think it was very strong (I didn't measure, and just made it to taste), but my wife use to be a bartender and she said it was quite strong. I just thought it was yummy.

my favourite drink is Calvados , the brand Pere MAGLOIRE.
PÈRE MAGLOIRE CALVADOS
I like it straight , no ice. gently warmed.
But...
My New Year resolution , have a break.
No alcohol since the 1st of JAN 2021 and still gong strong.
Perhaps for another year , can save a lot of money and buy more cameras.

I'm rather new to the world of drinking. Personal life crashed, and i picked up drinking as a result in summer of 2020. I quickly realized that my tolerance is unusually high. What gets people drunk, is usually my starting point. 14 shots of whiskey/scotch/bobrun? sure, i'll take that. Wine, by the bottle? sure, why not. vodka? of course.

Though i quickly realized that Gin is my go-to. For whatever reason, Gin really knocks me out. My favorite gin drinks are:
Beef Eater Pink and Tonic
Bombay Sapphire Gin Negroni.

cant stand tequila, and Rum and i dont get along for some reason.

Though, because my tolerance is unusually high, i started scaring myself, and i have been dry for last few months as a result. Probably will keep it that way.

Though i still would like a negroni

I'm not a huge drinker these days, but I do like something over the weekends - I'm very traditional - my go-tos are decent scotch if there's a bottle around, (my son gives me different, interesting ones for birthdays etc) beer (ale in pubs, lager at home, usually), inexpensive wine (red or white, never rose) and gin and tonic (Gordon's) in the summer and at Christmas (also sherry and/or port at Christmas) - with the odd bottle of champagne for celebrations - I don't really drink much else, although I'll try most things once

Port. Ah, the sublime warmth of a glass of Port in the evening. Cannot be topped. I do enjoy Laphroaig Scotch on occasion but its not nearly as enjoyable and life-altering as a nice bottle of Port.
how long can an open bottle of port be usable

I don't drink wine because of the fact that I don't want to drink an entire bottle at a time

but port interests me

Red or white wine for me. I can drink a bottle of good stuff (NZ /OZ) and have no hangover whatsoever. I take it neat, in a big glass and accompanied by music

Fortified stuff and spirits just don't appeal to me.

I might drink cider on occasion, but gone off lagers and ales nowadays. Pubs are open again soon, I may partake a cider then.

Cheers!

If you wanna try a drink, try a Black Tooth Grin.
Its a 50/50 mix of Seagrams 7 & Crown Royal. Splash of coca-cola optional

Mmm. I do like a nice single malt scotch... I wonder if it has anything to do with my weapon instrument of choice?

the vanilla variety of crown royal is smooth! goes nicely with coffee, coke, gingerale/gigerbeer, and just about anything, really.

try avoiding their maple variety. that....just doesn't agree with me one bit. super sweet
