the vanilla variety of crown royal is smooth! goes nicely with coffee, coke, gingerale/gigerbeer, and just about anything, really.

try avoiding their maple variety. that....just doesn't agree with me one bit. super sweet

I enjoy the vanilla as well, and their apple, though straight. No opinion yet on the maple.

Anything that is not aged to kingdom come in an oak barrel.

Vodka works fine, I once had a thing for vermouth.

I used to drink Newcastle Brown Ale. But now, I prefer the occasional Budweiser's Prohibition beer...zero alcohol. Although I understand once my limited stock runs out, I will have to find another zero beero...as Bud has dropped this beer.

my experience, which mirrors that of my friends, maple is WAY too sweet. it made us all gag.
and because maple only comes in the 750ml bottle (at least where i live), i struggled to down that

In order of frequency drunk

1)American IPAs

2)Red wine,current favourite Argentinian Malbec

3)Lighter single malt whisky (not so keen on the peaty Islays)

Hangover “cures”?
Sleep,fried breakfast,bracing walk.

I looked around, and either my search sucks, or there really isn't a page/thread dedicated to drinking (there is one on beer, specifically, but its more about good time, rather than the mixology aspect). So, figured, lets talk about drinks. What are you making? What are you craving? What is your go-to? How do you make yours different? What ratios do you use/prefer? What brands do you prefer? any fun stories about drinking? etc etc etc. This also includes anyone recovering from hangovers, or have gone completely sober for various reasons. If you've gone sober, what do you drink when out and about?

please be courteous, and follow all forum rules. No politics, no swearing, no bullying, no bashing of any sorts.

Also to note: alcohol does not equate to having fun. People can have fun without drinking. please dont bash those who choose to abstain.
Dry red wine, Scotch Whisky over ice.

And maybe some hangover cures might be helpful too................
Drink plenty water during the course of the evening, or day if you are day drinking, as alcohol promotes dehydration.
Lay in a box of fudgsicles for breakfast.
Ibuprofen helps.
I'm embarrassed that I know this from personal research.

Old and unimproved – nor should it be

I don't drink, but the traditional Scottish hangover cure was Barr's Irn Bru (made in Scotland from girders...) which has been messed with since I was a lad and doesn't taste like it used to! So in the interests of memories I bought a bottle of the traditional version when Barr's briefly reissued some made to the original recipe over a year ago. In the traditional bottle style too.

Ah, that's better!

I make my own. Cider from my own trees and if there is a glut it gets distilled to calvados, rated by friends well above Pierre Magloire which is cheap supermarket gut-rot and should be avoided. I also do my own single malt whisky, gin and rum. On the odd occasion I have had a decent grape harvest I made wine too.

I'll occasionally drink a Campari with San Pellegrino with a squeeze of fresh orange.

Beer like IPA, Pilsner, Stout, Porter, Ales, & so forth & so on. You can say the stronger tasting ones? Not big on light beers.

I do like tequilas & whiskeys too.

Mmmmm..... Yes!
