I *just* used the live cashback on an ebay purchase, once you've signed up and used their search engine to find the item, you buy it now just like regular ebay and paypal. In response to deejaaa's comment above, you then have to give MS Live your mailing address ...even though they will eventually put the money back into your paypal account. I guess you could fudge the street address, but you'd be so in violation of the TOS document you're now talking out and out fraud. I don't think it's worth that .... sorry to all my Canadian friends.
On the upside ... wow... found a Kirk BH-3 ball head on Ebay auctioned by Kirk Enterprises (the manufacturer). Had a small cosmetic defect, but new with full 5 year warranty. Regularly 255 on their site, but "buy it now" for 235, then 23.50 off with an ebay coupon, then 70 dollars more of via Live Cashback... so I got the head for $151 dollars shipped once I get the MS rebate. Now, THAT'S a deal!
