I’m aware of the registry hack, but that would spoil all the fun! Pah, all that faffing about just to mess up a perfectly good working setup. Why should I have to mess with that? Blasted MS shinyware, what was wrong with Win10 anyway? Where’s Notepad when you need it or Windows Mail? Bally confounded nuisance! Grrrr
Windows 11 still has notepad and mail although for some reason notepad is no longer under Windows Accessories. Anyway there is no need to switch to it yet, I didn't switch to Windows 10 until Windows 7 reached end of life

I'm, debating on putting it on my laptop for fun. I figure my company will go ti it next year anyway, so might as well learn what I can. I don't want to loose some software (Office and Photoshop) that I currently have set up just the way I want it while still trying to rebuild my desktop from when I upgraded to a 2tb drive and did a fresh load of everything.

For those who have gone 11, was it an upgrade keeping your apps & settings or a clean install?

It is pretty visually.

I had issues with;

The keyboard is no longer floatable. They offer a castrated mini keyboard, to drag around the screen.

On a Surface Tablet, the keyboard when open would push an input field to the top of the screen, sometimes burying it under other items in that area. Pulling the input area down, did not help, as it would snap back to the top. Had to rotate the tablet to portrait orientation to enter data.

The left side fly-out is large and annoying. No way to resize. Waste of space. On a Surface Tablet it activated if I tried to move icons close to the screen border.

I had constant crashes with the file explorer. Even after re-installing the OS, with the same software I used on Windows 10.

I did like;

The cut/copy/paste/delete icons on the top of the file explorer windows. Saves opening the drop down menu in Windows 10.

-- Some of these may be specific to use on a Surface Tablet. However Windows 10 functions fine on the same tablet.

Thanks for the info. I've been struggling with this and haven't decided what to do.

Yes, on a Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8705G CPU @ 3.10GHz 3.10 GHz

I like it more than windows 10 but upgrading and updating software is a passion of mine Liking a Microsoft product has not been easy for me over the years but I am coming around that, with age maybe Speaking of which I did install the ubuntu terminal today

After reading the posts here I am definitely NOT upgrading to Win 11.
We still have until 2025 with WIN 10 and, as mentioned here in a couple of posts, "maybe" there will be a Win 12.
I have no intention of beefing up my laptop and PC until they come with a stable version.

BTW, why on earth would you completely change something that works just fine?

That's my stance. My music production computer runs on win10, has everything set up just as needed, nothing on it but the basic necessary tools. It never, ever, goes online. No updates. Ever. No problems. Ever.

Sounds like it has UI issues on tablets or touch-screens. I wonder how it stacks up on desktops using a physical keyboard. Wasn't the main criticism with Windows 8 were the UI issues using a keyboard?

I used to like tinkering around with my OSes, nowadays I have kind of turned opposite. I'll still do whatever to keep my system healthy and running well, but I don't do it just for doing it anymore.

I don't really care. As long as it runs my current software it is fine, but I think I'll stick with Windows 10 for awhile yet.
