I am terminally ill...

General Talk has been the traditional place for sharing bad news of this sort and here I am. Several years ago, lost my mother and two of my aunts to Fibrotic Lung Disease. It has been five years since I got my diagnosis. I have been waiting for a lung transplant listing since this last spring at UCSF in San Francisco, but with Covid, that process too has been disrupted. With any luck, I may be considered at the first of the year.

If you are a praying person, I ask that you remember me. Forum member Javier (jgredline) does so daily, for which I am very grateful and I am sure he is not alone here in his faith. Thank you.

I was reminded this weekend that Javier also has his challenges as a thyroid cancer survivor who is in a new cycle of chemotherapy. Prayers are needed there are well.

Steve

Hi Steve

As a pediatric intensive care physician I have seen so many deaths, many of which premature. Yet, I still cannot fathom as to what it feels like to deal with your own mortality. I am so sorry, and my heart aches and goes out for your suffering.

Admittedly - I am not a religious person in the conventional sense nonetheless I do hold my thoughts and regards on some type of higher being beyond our comprehension having some influence on life as we know it. For what it's worth - I will be pleading with higher being of any kind, so that you will receive the gift of life in a timely manner.

Thank you for sharing.

Steve, I’m also saddened by your news. Not being a religious person, my main hope for you is that you do find a transplant opportunity as soon as possible, and that it is successful.

You are a paragon of considered and knowledgable contribution in this place, for which I and many others are most grateful, and I assume you behave likewise in the other parts of your life. My best wishes go to you in what must be a sombre and difficult time.

It really sucks....

Yes , sometimes life could be so unfair and cruel and sometimes we can not do anything about it.
"God's Will" , that does not really help.
Your soul must be screaming with desperation.
I will reserve a warm spot for you in my interaction with Divine Being.

P.S.: the Apple watch can "monitor" oxygen level in your blood , not sure if that can help you with managing daily activities but I do have one.

Many thanks for sharing this shocking, and very personal news, Steve. I'm so hoping that you make it to the transplant candidate list.

Best of luck.
