Which Advent speakers Paul? The OLA version?
The original full size Advent 2-way speakers. I had the "utility" cabinet version, otherwise identical to the nicer finished ones. They had a toggle switch on the back to adjust the tweeter range. Bought them in '76, and the first LP I played thru them was Heart "Dreamboat Annie" "OLA"?

Streaming:

I do not use spotify or sirious or anything like that. But I do enjoy streaming radio stations.

WKCR - this is 89.9 in NYC - 7am Mon-Fri is Jazz; 10pm-midnite you get some nice shows very culturally diversed - Indian music, Hispanic... AM on Saturdays you get roots reggae; 11-3pm on Sundays you get straight old Country (bluegrass, acoustic, good stuff).

HPR (Heartland Public Radio - Country music 24/7 and no commercials

95.7 That Station = great for finding new music and contemporary bands, and stuff - based off South Carolina

Anyone streaming some good stuff out there?

Some of the later Advent models are pretty good sounding inexpensive speakers.
Like the original Advents most are acoustic suspension sealed-box designs which I prefer.

As they are not highly sought after some bargains are out there to be found.

Be aware though that like most 20+ year old electronics speakers may also require service,
often including driver surround refoaming which fortunately is usually an easy DIY project.

A Fluance RT82 with the OM10 stylus was just added to the collection. I'm pretty excited about comparing different media formats now.

Wow what a beau! Good job, I see you stayed with Ortofon... They're great cartridges. Lovely "s" arm you also got for that TT.

PS, my OM10 is a bit chunkier than yours...

I can't get it to play records.

That would take a couple extra counterbalances to get that down to 1.5grams

I was a LP collector from my mid-teens in the late 60s, ending up with a Thorens TD160 turntable and SME3009II/Shure V15III combo feeding into a Leak 2200 amp and Leak 2030 speakers by the mid/late 70s. Being predominantly a classical listener, I was being routinely enraged by clicks, pops, swish, end of side distortion and all that stuff, especially with long LP sides that ended very quietly. One casualty was Vaughan Williams’ sixth symphony conducted by André Previn on a half-hour long RCA LP side, where the background noise was so intrusive that you couldn’t really hear when the music finished.

So I was very ready for CD in 1983 when background noise disappeared, a triumph of message over medium. Fast forward past cassettes and MiniDiscs to the present where I no longer play physical media. I sold my LPs and turntable when I moved house ten years ago and all my CDs are stored in the attic. I still don’t stream (a lot of my taste is so individual that it’s not on streaming services, and I have the performances anyway!) but these days either buy high definition or CD-quality downloads. All my music has been ripped from my CDs onto a backed-up high definition FLAC player (a Fiio X5 mk 2), playing through a Marantz Class A amplifier into the same Leak 2030 speakers that I bought in 1975, backed at the low end by a Tannoy subwoofer.

No computer/smartphone required!

I just bought an Internet radio, an appliance not previously mentioned.
I look forward to listening to streams from stations around the world.

To play my LPs...

Pioneer PL 530

Name: pl_530.jpg
Views: 112
Size: 119.9 KB
(Not my turntable, but identical in all ways except that mine has a Shure M97xE cartridge.)

To make the sound...

Klipsch KG 4.2 in Oiled Oak, currently on spikes

Name: klipsch_kg.jpg

Size: 169.6 KB

Both are connected to a '90s vintage Kenwood KR-A5050 receiver fed by Sony CD and DVD players in addition to the turntable. I am not an audiophile, but I do enjoy this setup.
