An R-strap from Blackrapid.com... and a 1Ds Mark II to attach to it.

What? No thesaurus?

My family decided to forego giving Xmas (and birthday) presents some years back, and to give to charity instead.

But I got a $100 gift card for Ralph's supermarket from my employer (no usual bonus as this is a sucky business year), and a Starbucks sampler and cookies and chutney from co-workers.

When I got my K20D a couple months back, I rationalized it as my October birthday and Xmas present to myself.

It looks like everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I received a Sigma 70-200 mm f/2.8 HSM lens for my K10 and a Crumpler 7 million dollar camera bag.

Special thanks to Peter Zack for the help and advice in choosing the lens.

I am one happy individual.

I got a LARGE format printer (HP Z3200). The only problem I have with it: where will I find room to put it. My computer room is already crowded, so I have to make a few decisions.

Option A: enlarge the house

Option B: reduce the size of the washroom to enlarge the computer room.

Option C: sell the house and buy a larger one.

All in all, a tough call. Still, I'm a happy camper. Will have a lot of fun with my new toy. I'll have to ask a neighbour some help to put it together, since it is kind of heavy.

Woo! Congrats on the MIT acceptance!

No photo-related prezzies, this Yule season, but that's OK, ...almost all my discretionary money has been going toward photo this, photo that for quite a while, so a nice sweater is good.

By the way, Flyer, have you considered putting some kind of extra platform on top of something in your computer room? (like, if you have a table with printers on it, adding another level? )

I did something like this to get an enlarger into my little office room here, ...not that you likely need anything quite that stout, but I have a pretty easy little design you could use that even lets you get an extra slide-out workspace in there. I've found that if you have a tight space you can often augment it by putting some things up on things like these little closet organizer platforms, or even by shortening the legs of a likely looking end table and putting it up on something.

I got one last year. The title was Adobe CS3 Photoshop Top 100 Tips and Tricks, published by Wiley. Not a bad book, I haven't used it enough but it is easy to follow and as the cover says, it's a visual learning system. Lots of pictures.

I now want one for Lightroom 2 and see what I'm missing.
