My ISP and hosting for my domain is Speakeasy.net. I host most of my images on SmugMug, though, at the Pro level. See my Sig.

I have my DSL through Speakeasy, as well, since the late 1990's. Don

I'm sure it depends on what exactly you'll be doing, but our company has used LunarPages for about 4 years now with very few difficulties at all...inexpensive and lots of storage and free software in the basic package.

I use my own ISP. I get 60mb of server space with my account, which is ample for my needs.

I tried out a few and settled on dreamhost. They're not perfect, but they're relatively cheap, they keep upgrading the account, and the have a very comprehensive website configuration page.

You are welcome. FWIW I still use Pbase. HAving spent some time to elarn some of the interface, and having paid a 1 year subscription fee, I thought it wise to let it run.

Pbase links very well to this website if you l;earn the process to make the links.

This is my web-hoster Welcome to the New and Improved DFx.org! | DFx.org

I am not really sure how his prices compare to other sites but he is quite reliable and quick to come to my aid should I need it.

Some on this forum refered us to Free Web Hosting with PHP, MySQL and cPanel, No Ads
They really are free, at least so far. They're quick to setup and plenty of s'ware.
I have 3 sites running with them.
Also, as others have suggested but most people forget about, your ISP might be providing you with space which you are NOT using.

My first website was on 000webhost. There's a catch. If you don't get a certain amount of visitors/month, your account is cancelled.

I use Startlogic. I have the "ProLogic" plan. It's great and I've had no problems with them at all.

I use LunarPages to host my website and have had no problems whatsoever. It's not a canned webhost where you get templates, a structure, and packages, so my wife and I do it all website work ourselves.

If you want do nothing more than upload photos, tweak and customize the look of the website, then getting a web host is not what you want - you want an image host. Smugmug, Collages, Pictage, ExposureManager... there are many out there. Regardless of recommendations, make sure you read the fine print regarding selling photos, cost to you, copyrights, commissions, etc.

If you actually want a professional host with near-instant service, as opposed to an all-you-can-eat over-subscribed service like Dreamhost, then I recommend A Small Orange. I host quite a few sites and several clients with them.
