To all of our forum friends in Australia - I hope these fires end soon and I wish you the best of luck; when I cranked up the internet a moment ago and my CNN home page came, I was astonished by the extent of the conflagration that was reported.

As someone who lives in the "land of hurricanes", I can appreciate the shock and dislocation that comes from large-scale disasters. So I feel for the people in the affected areas and loved ones of the casualties.

You guys take care down there.

Jer

Yes, Victoria/SA and NSW always seems to get the worst of the bushfires.

Meanwhile up here in QLD 75% of the state is flooded. I just wish some of this rain would head south.

My prayers are with all of you. Yourselves, family, friends, and anyone else affected by these horrible bush fires. I hope too, that these fires will end very soon!

To those of you who want to raise money to give back to those who lost their homes, and family members, I think what you are doing is wonderful.
Perhaps in addition to selling framed prints, you would consider putting a photo book together. People may be more willing to purchase a book instead of a framed print due to the cost. Either way, your hearts are in the right place.

Surely Tracy was worse? Slightly lower death count but an entire city was blown into oblivion.

Many thanks to the overseas folks here sending well wishes

Stay safe, Victorians

So sorry to hear about the terrible fires you're having over there, Victorian friends. The death toll and devastation are truly horrendous. I'm sure I speak for all South Australian forum members in hoping you keep safe and well. It's hard to know what to do to help in these situations. As a small gesture our band has decided to put on a fund-raising concert. There's only about 4,500 people who live on Kangaroo Island, and we're just a folk band of old farts, but I guess every little bit helps.

Stay safe.

Les

Catching the ferry back to Kangaroo Island last Wednesday, the whole coastline was hidden by thick, black cloud from the bushfires hundreds of kilometres away. That's how bad they are.

Deepest concern and hopes for your safety, brothers and sisters.
