I have a good friend that lives just outside of Melbourne in Viewbank on Casey Cres road. Can anyone tell me if that area is ok? From the Fires I mean. I lost his email so I can't send him a note to make sure they are ok.

Viewbank and Melbourne is OK, link here for the fires

While Viewbank is on the same side of Melbourne as where the fires were it's a few kilometres from the danger zone. Your friend may well have had the smoke but would have been perfectly same at home.
