I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I don't like things which are not 100%. That is why I chose an amplifier for my Hifi gear which works according to the "Class A" principle.

Standard amplifiers use the "Class AB" principle which results in crossover distortion.

@ClassA I totally got your name the instant I saw it, I'm an audio nut too and have a Klipsch/SVS based sound system in my studio that can really rattle the windows. Though Class A amps tend to be thermal efficiency nightmares I have to admit I switch to [HA!] Class D amps during the summer months where ambient temperatures can exceed 40°C here in Australia. I recently did a review the Schitt Aegir Class A amp - which is literally the hottest class A amp I have ever worked with, but it sounds amazing but I really worry about the longevity of the caps.
I've got a pair of Threshold Class A monoblocks that I bought new in 1990, that are still going strong. They don't run too hot, but it's all about proper ventilation when using them. Never use them in an enclosed shelf.

My PF Username came from an event that occurred years before I joined the forum in 2008.

After many unsuccessful attempts at creating a new email account and getting "already in use" error messages, I literally just grabbed an LP from my vinyl collection and tried the bands (Go Four 3) name. It worked and I've been using it ever since.

My avatar is a picture of me in the early 1970's.

Phil.

Sir Nameless is the name of a character in a book by W.C. Cule called Sir Knight of the Splendid Way. This character dreamed of adventure as a young man, but ended up with a lifetime of mundane work that he thought made little difference and went completely unnoticed. Nevertheless, he was diligent and faithful in his work, which turned out to be neither useless nor unnoticed. It was an inspiring little vignette at a time when I needed it (and, not in the context of photography). I used the name so I would remember the lesson.

The avatar is a photo I took of a Roman Empire-era funerary mask in a local museum. The passing of time wore off the face. The name of it's owner is unknown. Thought it paired well with my name.

When my number was listed in the phone book my name was abbreviated to Theo.

Name: Ben
Degree: Masters (Hons) Chemistry
Occupation: R&D Chemist.

I did consider ‘Benzene’ but it was typically taken for gaming profiles so I went for an alpha-numerical alternative.

you could have used to old German name for benzene - Benzol. I have seen that used a few times in my research of old dusty chemistry papers.

Interesting that it would’ve been denoted benzol, hinting at it being an alcohol. Wouldn’t be surprised if people had used that for phenol at times?
I’ve also seen benzine to denote ‘old’ petrols! I’m happy enough with mine as no one seems to have taken it on most platforms.

Used 35mm (mainly Pentax) for over 45 years, till lack of darkroom facilities and general laziness overtook me. Avatar is a Shag from the Farne Islands. I use a different name for each forum, group, organisation etc I join - just in case they are still following me ... After all, even if you are Paranoid - it doesn't mean that they are not all out to get you.

It's been a long time since I've seen a phone book. Do they even publish them these days?
