If you're referring to the "Rest of the Story" feature that is the case, and he took over researching and writing the feature many years ago. The "News & Comment" feature has increasingly relied on a number of substitutes for a few years.
I do hope the feature will be continued and that either Gross or Chapman, the two most commonly heard subs, land a permanent berth. Of course, despite all the imitators and mimickers there have been over the years there will never be anyone who can duplicate Paul's unique delivery. But it would be a shame to see such a long-standing and loved radio tradition die with him.
It is hard to realize that this was a man who was already working in radio (albeit on a very modest level)
before such staples of the medium as Jack Benny.
