Hee. Actually, a lot of these places are heavily-male, ...the first place I used this screen name, it sort of made sense to specify rather than correct the assumptions all the time.
Makes me wonder if there's a brand demographic, though: A lot of the women photo people I know aren't too brand-attached, and hang out more on photo-sharing type sites. (I'm terrible about keeping up with such places, never mind actually posting photos. A computer that's getting slow doesn't really help matters in this regard.) Many aren't too interested in the technical end of things, either, though there's probably a certain 'art degree' influence there, I often think. (A lot of these programs don't seem to focus much on certain aspects, I find: people would kind of come to me for supplementary lessons in such things as camera handling and exposure and the like.)
Guy photogs are in general more likely to spot an unusual bit of kit and strike up a conversation, (I'm kind of getting a bit of networking done just by dint of carrying Pentax and old stuff. Always nice to talk to people. The thought even occurred to me that maybe I'll get the battery grip a little sooner just to attract more conversations. (heheh.
Actually, primarily I'd like the extra ballast cause there's a lot of longer shots in this town, with its very-straight streets and all, but still.

Chatter, chatter.
