I've been in Starbucks a couple times...I have no idea what/how to order. Does the "black eye" mean "dark roast"? I know what the venti part means but why the hell can't it just be a medium?

Have you ever brewed your own? As many tablespoons per cup as you like I put in 3 per 20oz (or venti? ) cup...currently drinking kind of a mild "breakfast blend" with a little darker "french roast" hint.

Mmmmmmmm...but...it's 1:30am now. Come tomorrow morning I'll have my daily cup
Black eye = coffee w/ 2 shots of esspresso
red eye = coffee w/ 1 shot...

they have their own naming system, when it gets hectic..(at least thats what one of my friends that work there say) they just mark it in the cup..(for those designer drinks they have)

I do brew my own coffee on the weekends, and it's damn strong, but during the work week, I dont drink coffee until I Get to work as I have a 2 hour commute...
so it's pointless to try to wake up only to be sitting in the train for an hour..

What's really funny about the 46 posts in this thread about Starbucks Coffee.

My original post wasn't actually about the Coffee.

yeah i make coffee at home in an 80$ machine
i can make coffee as good as the best coffee house in town, but it took me a long time to figure out how - there are a lot of variables.

Pssst, don't tell anyone but I drink an occasional coffee and it's usually made with a $12 french press.

There was no apology needed. I was simply pointing out how threads run.

No need to have deleted your post.

There seems to be Tim Horton's on every corner in this town.
I discovered that if you bring your own travel mug and ask for a 'refill' they knock 11 cents off the price of a large-size coffee.
The principle is that you are helping Tim Horton's from supplying a paper cup and the customer gets a warm, fuzzy feeling because they aren't sending yet another cup to a landfill site.
I was basking in the glow of my environmentally conscience coffee-break when I noticed that the lady behind the counter was making my coffee in a paper cup first, pouring the contents into my travel mug then tossing the paper cup in the trash.

Now I'm totally disillusioned about their supposed lofty good intentions; but I do save 11 cents per cup!
