I like the first one for it's simplicity, the other 2 have so much stuff on them.

It's hard to say without knowing anything about how the contest operates. Are the entries hidden until the winners are picked? Or are they visible? Does the public vote, or is is a panel of judges? Is the contest a one-shot deal, or a regular recurring event? Does the web site bneed to show anything more than just the contest information?

I can already tell which one you probably like best, but without context, it is difficult to judge the appropriateness of each design.

At first I agreed with pasipasi then I saw the light!

Oh! I see, photo contests! I like page 2 if the images shown are entries to the photo contest & vary rapidly with time while serving as links to more.

Just on appearance, I prefer # 2. #1 is simple also, but it looks sort of washed out and boring. #3 looks too busy. #2 is less busy, and has nicer contrast and colors for my tastes.

#1 seems less busy/cluttered so it may detract less from the photos.

I like the 3rd one.

The first one is simple, but not my type of color tone.
The 2nd one has too much stuff in there.

The 3rd one has a nice clean and cool tone

I picked #2, not based on colors though - those are easy to change. But #2 looks more functional from a layout perspective. #1 looks like I'll have to dig to find what I'm after. #3 has all the pieces but they're kind of jumbled together. In #2 there's a clearly defined "place for everything and everything is in its place".
