Pentaxian Habitat?

Just a curious observation, this is one of the first topic (not region) based forum i've been on where there seems to be a fair amount of fellow Northwesterners. Got me to thinking, is there a specific pentaxian habitat? Obviously there is a great diversity of experience on this forum from street/urban photography to nature/wildlife but I wonder if there is a common thread that brings us to such a company? To me it seems like it might be an adventurous spirit. That doesn't mean hiking into the back country pr jumping off a cliff but that desire to do something different. Maybe go for a walk instead of drive so you see a few more things, perhaps traveling somewhere you've never been. Stepping away from your standard viewpoint photo spots to find something else?

I don't know but I really do enjoy the different experiences I find here.

Also is there a latin name for pentaxian? If not I'd submit "photus cheapasstus"

Or ignorant! (That refers to me as I did no research whatsoever before buying!)

Nah...I like "photus frugalus" better.

Other than recognizing that Pentax is the best "bang for the buck" system and a willingness to be different, I don't know that there is a standard profile for Pentaxians. We live all over the world and like to shoot different things.

I never particularly liked Canon. I considered Minolta back in the day but they and Olympus just didn't do it for me. I liked Nikon but they were proud of their stuff and I didn't have access to Mamiya NC1000 or the ZE lines at the time. I have just liked Pentax's 35mm stuff better overall.

I imagine quite a few of us came from a K1000 at some point in the past. Personally, my decision to go with pentax in the present stemmed from the fact that I do, indeed, hike into the backcountry and jump off cliffs and stuff (or climb up them, more often) and I like to have a camera that's not going to get in my way but'll still be tough enough to keep up. And I'm also dirt cheap.

Or even a Spotmatic in some cases.

Now that you mention it, my first camera was a 110 and my second was a K1000.

you know you're right, my fist SLR was a k1000 I got from my father. I still use it too from time to time. Its amazing what a cheap, not that spectacular body can do for a brand even this far down the line!

Weather sealed cameras and rainy Northwest climate go well together.
