Well since the camera is from the Nicephore Niepce Museum, and Nicephore Niepce is widely credited with taking the first photographs in 1826-1827 (pewter plate, bitumen emulsion, lavender oil "developer") I have no trouble believing that crazy box probably held his first actual photographic plate.

BTW, his first outdoor photograph was exposed for 8 hours in bright sunlight, yet it was considered underexposed.
