I still disagree about anything ....

So what you are telling me is every parent has a price where they will torture and kill their children ? I would agree some would have a price and where these people belong is a whole other topic. But if you are telling me every parent has a price ,well I call bullsh%$
I wasn't even thinking that sick.

But yes, every parent has a price.

You need help my friend.

Well that is the point , you said 'anything' which is why I chimed in initially. Did you put some thought into what anything could mean ? We are not taking about corrupt public figures or insider trading , hell most of would would buckle for a price in those scenarios.

And we'll have to agree to disagree on the everyone has a price for anything ....... I can't believe you think that even with that morbid example....

As for me needing help ..... most of us do .... that was just one of a hundred scenarios where I am 100% postivie there is no price for some people .... as I am one of them , $$ no, imortatlity (even it if existed ) no, power no , there simply is no price for me on that one. I could ratlle off another dozen examples of things I would not do for any price.

Curious what would your price be the this example ? Don't have to say it, but you have to admit you have one (even if you are not a parent)

Dave I could think of the price you would. But I really don't want to see that side of myself. I know your price for anything already. You've actually told me in these posts.

Dave let's let this go. Please don't respond.

haha don't respond what kind of reply is that ? You started this

We'll agree to you don't know a thing about me .... nor I you . It's impossible for either side to prove their point so I agree it's a waste of time.

No harm no foul .... time to post a picture ......

At first I was amused... then intrigued... now disappointed...

Graphicgr8s, how can you start a conversation with such a dramatic generalization, then continue with some no-holds-barred rhetoric, and then... just when you have Dave game to argue the point, you bail on the whole argument?

Don't usually partake in these political threads but on the point of everybody has a price, I find that an interesting concept.

I would quantify that - everyone has a price for some things, be it compromised morals, or some sort of illegal act ,and that price does not necessarliy have to be money it can be power , favors whatever. I would agree with that.

I don't believe everyone has a price for everything.....I believe that are some things that cannot be bought from some poeple.
Even Brian Mulroney (for "foreigners", he's an ex-Prime Minister in Canada) had a price. All the Canadians are paying for it.

Quite a few years ago, the comedian Nipsey Russell expressed it this way:

but let's not get confused,
the things that money can not buy
are very seldom used."

Let's see...

Russian scientists contact nether world - Pravda.Ru

Cats and dogs raise little girl in smelly apartment in Russia's Siberia - Pravda.Ru

Soviet Union witnessed invasion of US-made UFOs in 1980s - Pravda.Ru

But then I relaized that Pravda is the official information organ for an authoritarian, corrupt, religio-nationalistic, plutocracric regime, which of course must remind conservatives of the good old days of the Bush administration and Fox News as its media megaphone, and everything became clear again.

You forgot: drunken.

daacon has made an interesting point, i would try to get it from particular to general: the point is that everybody has a price for breaking external constraints. most people have no price for doing that related to things which are internal (dave's example expresses just that). for instance, breaking a law or rule will be possible for a price, as long as that rule is imposed externally, once it is internal or internalized, there will be no price in most cases (as with parent's "instinct", above). following that, an even broader generalization is that, imho, the biggest single problem we might have is that people are mostly controlled externally, most people do not understand, nor do they wish to, why they should do some things and should not do others (simple example: the tax evasion methods in US are now a form of art, and everyone that "matters" does it, this is partly because they would only pay taxes to not be punished -- so they have no understanding or "simpathy" for why they should give money to the government, not internally --, and on the other hand because they feel ripped off and crushed (the two, of course, go hand in hand), so they feel compelled to find a way out or around). controlling people like you do sheep (through force and punishment) leaves you with a flock of creatures who are constrained, and alone with their own interests, frustrations and desires: instead of helping them understand how they can pursue their own interests while not going against other's (and indirectly shooting themselves in the foot), you give them "you will not do that because if you do you get f%^ed", and let them figure out the rest, you get corruption, crime (and more laws and a more ingenious punishment system to go with them), and round it goes. at this point, it is safe to say most people will do anything in their own imediate interrest, as long as they can get away with it (or believe that they can), so price is truly not that relevant anymore, because the price is already payed, the opportunity is the only thing missing.

and yes, there's nothing wrong with socialism, except that it doesn't bloody work.
