Picked up today at an estate sale...

Yashica TL Electro X
Yashinon Tomioka 60mm f/2.8 Macro
Vivitar 135mm f/2.8 (Komine, I think... 28xxxxxx serial)

For a paltry $45. Pretty pleased.

Now I just have to find a battery for the Yashica.

The batteries are pretty easy to find - I found them at a drugstore, and of course at Radio Shack.

Congratualtions - the Electro X is a camera I really love, I have two but unfortunately the second one battery check works but the meter doesn't. They are a bit larger than Spotmatics, but very comfortable to hold, and the LED meter of course is easy to see.

And DAMN those are nice lenses. The 60 Macro by itself should be superb. I also have the 28 serial no Vivitar, quite nice and petite, and I don't like 135's as a rule, this may be my favorite.

The estate sale sure was a worth while trip for you

Nesster, they use PX28 cells, right?

Yeah, I'm pretty psyched about the 60mm Macro, especially since it's an M42 lens and can thus be used on all my Pentax gear as well.

mine use a 6v 4LR44 aka 746A, PX28A etc. The same one the Yashica Guy adapter uses for the GSN.

I think there's several sites that have a test you can do with the size of the battery opening to see which of the two possibilities your camera takes.

A couple quick shots with the 60mm on the K100D (only applied CS3 Auto Contrast):

I like it!

Congratulations!

You are really going to enjoy both the camera and the lenses! I have the Vivitar 135/2.8 (Komine-built) and have been very impressed with the images it is capable of producing.

Jeez, the focusing distance on the 135mm is a bit long. Also a nice lens, though.

Yep, t'aint a macro, y'know!

The interesting thing is that I have gotten very good macro results with the Viv 135 mounted to my bellows. 1:1 with great working distance!

It also works pretty good with the Vivitar 2X-1 TC (contemporary with the lens). Twice the magnification at the same distance...Woo! Hoo!

Yashica TL Electro X lightmeter

Now I just have to find a battery for the Yashica.
I picked up one recently too and was lucky enough that it takes the 4SR44 battery which is not difficult to find.
However I'm confused by the light meter in the TL Electro X. It has these 2 red arrows in the viewfinder, where you're supposed to have both arrows off in order to get the correct exposure, right ? Well on my Electro there is a gap of 3 to 4 full f-stops between the two arrows. That doesn't sound like correct to me ? I would have guessed that it should be at most 1 f-stop between the extinction of one arrow and the lit of the other one??? or did I completely miss something in the way this light meter should work ?
