Shot the dress rehearsal of the rock opera Tommy last Sunday. The staff photographer from the local newspaper was there for about 15-20 minutes as well. However, the shows producer didn't like the staff photographers images and had seen mine posted on a facebook album, so suggested to the newspaper they use mine. Well they did and the fellow who handles the media and advertising for the producer had also seen the images so asked if he could submit one for the local weekly paper as well.
I used my K-7 and DA*50-135 which I shot at ISO 1600 and wide open at f/2.8. However, I am sure this had nothing to do with image quality, the staff photographer was using a Canon EOS 1D and 70-200 lens, almost $9K for the body and $2K for the lens and while I did not see his images, I am sure the quality was excellent, but I suspect he did not capture the feeling or story of the show as well. After all, I am a fan of musical theater and know the story of this show. Here are the two images that were used.
