It wasn't ethical to do without asking permission, but it wasn't illegal, which is what Mike Cash was going off on those people and us for.
I can't find a reference to Mike mentioning illegality in this thread.
I saw this thread when it was first posted and got the impression that it was about the lack of common decency in not notifying him about the use of his image.
Unfortunately the whole thing has morphed like a Chinese whisper and now things seem to be going around in circles.

OK but, you're still wrong and that's why you changed your settings. See photo... <img> tags are in the HTML code. Oh and don't nobody panic it's my page.

Regards
You're half right.

I was wrong about the sort of link, as when I tested it out I used the upper portion of the box, which only sent out a text link.

And that wasn't why I changed the settings. I changed the setting because of doofuses who think allowing the link to be sent equals surrendering the benefits of copyright protection.

I never cease to be amazed at the lack of critical reading skills I encounter on the internet. It is secondary only to the lack of composition skills.

It doesn't matter how many times I point out that the whole thrust was, "Hey...if you're going to snag my photo, have the manners to at least tell me about it." some folks are just bound and determined to miss it.

Blue, the section of the TOS that you're quoting has to do with someone downloading your photo and then uploading it into their flickr photostream as their own. This is quite a different situation than someone using the sharing HTML code that's provided by your own photo page.
The guy immediately below the post on the SkyScraper site's comment was "right click, save." That's why I believe the person that posted it took it down since they had not said anything to Mike about it. Unethical behavior and illegality are 2 different issues, however one can lead to the other.

Please dont take this like I am trying to bust your chops but how does your shoot of the japanese girls rate on your scale of composition skills. I have read some things about composition but I have a hard time detecting those skills on some pictures.

Thanks in advance

I do hope you're being facetious. But just in case you're not, I was referring to linguistic composition skills....the ability to write.

The photo itself, of course, displayed no particular photographic composition skills and was almost entirely without merit.
