It's obvious

Well thank God that those 2 reporters algore got captured are home.

It's obvious that an agreement was made before Slick Willy went over. So I wonder: what did their release cost the US?

Recognition and prestige, he's supremely vain. He wants to elevate N Koreas standing in the world so that his dynasty will continue when he hands over to one of his sons.

We may not have got the full story in this part of the world but what did Al Gore have to do with the 2 reporters being arrested?

i dont know, it is my understanding that the regime over there is a command economy style dictatorship under the guise of a "peoples party" (what the soviet union had)

however, NKorea is small geographically, has access to water. Theoretically they should not still be living in the conditions that the world thinks they are living in. (an article i read about 5 years ago, i think in NGeographic), Atleast not now, when its 2009 and things are happening in the world.

Maybe there are things going on internally that no one knows about..

Actually I very much enjoy Laura Ling's reporting on Current-TV and am glad she is finally home.

She's a pretty gutsy journalist, has been reporting in places nobody sane should go and her work is top notch. I was particularely impressed with her work on the drug lords from Juarez, and also her incursion into "Cité du soleil" in Haiti (that place makes Rwanda killing fields look like kindergarden).

Slick Willy didn't get that name for no reason. Everyone maybe over analyzing the situation. He may have just wanted to show Bore et al. how it is done.

There are statues of him everywhere, every household has to hang a picture of him in their home. He's got nuclear weapons. He's the mother of all Bond villains.

Ditto, let's also hope this affair has opened the doors for new dialogue instead of the standoff that has been going on.
