finding a quiet corner to listen to my first transistor radio

dad gave it to me for Christmas and bellered at me to turn that crap down for months afterward

I haven't agreed with you about much else but you like some damn fine music!

This was on the radio yesterday... Hadn't heard it in years. I was 11 years old when it was released in 1980

The bassline and drums are so tight all the way through - but cooler still are the sax and chord progression at 1:00

I was too young to fully appreciate the Ska movement at the time, but in later years I've come to like an awful lot of music from that genre.

mirror in the bathroom the Beat - YouTube
partied with them the first time they passed through town. My buddy Gary put on pretty much every decent show in existance. i'd work the odd one, and he always used the same place to put people up so usually the after party ended up there
Specials were a great bunch as well , winter 80 i had a skinhead (never pass out at a party with skinheads ) lost all my lovely spiky dark blue locks

Bert Weedon - Ginchy, 1961

Bert Weedon's Play In A Day guitar instruction book taught many to play,
including quite a few famous British rockers, by their own accounts.

Recently I discovered Aspencat.

Somewhere in between Ska, Reggae and Drum and Bass... and I love it. Catalan band, great sound, great music.

La Gossa Sorda I heard live in 2015, and immediately fell in love. Every song they played was great. Musically they should be somewhere between Ska and Rock, again from Catalunya, sadly they stopped making music. One of the singers has a voice... like butter. The one who raps is a politician... funny.

I'm stuck with a very oldie from the '70's ... Uriah Heep - Salisbury.
The 3 x guitar solo(s) in the Salisbury tune will make your blood pressure go up !
Besides that, just about everything that has good vibes and harmonics .... I hate all of those diminished chords of the newly spawned stuff.
